Assignments
All assignments must be completed in order to receive a “Pass” for the class. Exceptions are made only in the most extreme of circumstances. All homework is due the following week, unless explicitly stated otherwise!
Bootcamp Day 1 HW (assigned 8/26):
- Draft a syllabus for your section. Bring two copies with you to class tomorrow.
- Draft a lesson plan for your first-day. Think about introductory materials/statements, icebreakers, activities, assessments, and the time each activity takes. What atmosphere do you want to create? What are your learning objectives? How will you assess whether these objectives were accomplished? Bring two copies with you to class tomorrow.
- Prepare answers to the following board-work questions. We will be calling each person up to the board to answer one of them during class tomorrow.
Bootcamp Day 2 HW (assigned 8/27):
- Keep a lesson plan notebook throughout the semester. You should be writing out your lesson plan prior to section each week, including specific learning objectives and time estimations. After you teach, jot down some notes/reflections on your lesson plan of what worked well and what didn't - these are useful to have if you teach the same class again in the future!
- Read this article.
- Have great first sections!
Class 3 HW (assigned 8/29):
- Glance over everyone's teaching times on the main page of the Wiki and see who you might want to pair up with for section visits. Everyone teaching this semester must be visited at least once. Everyone must go on at least one visit.
- Keep creating, logging, and reflecting on those lesson plans! Write at least one learning objective on your lesson plan each week.
- Read this article.
Class 4 HW (assigned 9/5):
