Planning information for the 2011 Launch Day, tentatively scheduled for Wed., August 17.
Schedule
- 12:00-1:30 Lunch at the Faculty Club (meet at HFA)
- 1:30-3:30 Orientation (Lounge)
- Welcome from the chair (Imke)
- Getting set up
- Information/Q&A on courses
- Mentoring and advising systems (Eugene, 2:30)
- Expectations (how many classes to take, prelims, etc.)
- Talks (colloquium, Journal Club, GSPS, etc.)
- Fun Stuff to do in Berkeley (outreach, Sierra Conference, Ski Trip, etc.)
- 3:30-5:00 Jobs meeting (B5)
- Afterwards: Dinner and drinks at Jupiter or elsewhere
Logisics
- Invite faculty for the Q&A
- Invite a limited number of grads for the faculty club lunch (funds are limited)
